| It was during a competiton – I forget which – that, quite by accident, I came into contact with Springers for the first time. I was looking for a pet dog, without having a particular breed in mind, although I had a weakness for Spaniels. As I was walking through the crowd, a dog came up to me. He was black and white, sociable and playful. I patted him gently and immediately fell in love with these affectionate, lively and intelligent dogs. |
| In spite of my limited knowledge of this breed at the time, Nellie, my first Springer, succeeded in earning a Canadian CDX and an American CD. I might have pursued training Nellie but I also had another female, Mimic. Mimic (OTCH, TD and American CD and TD) was the first Springer in the history of the CKC to hit the Top 10, all breeds, in obedience. Then there was Charlot (OTCH and American CD), a liver and white male with a more stubborn nature. Around that time I met Nathalie Piché and this is when my real adventure with Springers began. | ||

| First came Oblic (CDX, TD and American CD), with his proud demeanour which always attracted the judges’ attention. I owe him a few HIT. I lost him at the age of thirteen. His daughter Nellie reminds me of him a bit. |

| Around the same time I adopted Bluff (OTCH and American CDX), a marvellous dog who ranked 10th, all breeds, in obedience in Canada in 1998. Now fourteen and a half, Bluff starred last May in a Québec feature film entitled « Tout est parfait » to be released during the winter of 2008. |

| Afterwards came many more dogs whose prowess I have since forgotten : Freeway, CDX; Garcia, CD and American CD, who reminded me sometimes of a sweet clown; Lolita, CD; Carrie, CD; Erin, CDX and American CD; Jackson, my recent tri color male, each day a little more obedient; Floozie, CD, that I am presently training and Samantha (OTCH and American CD), beautiful and gentle Samantha, possibly one of my favorite dogs ever. Top Springer in Canada in 2005 and 2006, she scored many HIT both in Québec and Ontario and has been invited to compete in the HIT of HITS for the past two years. I hope to complete her MOTCH very soon. |

Nathalie once asked me : « Which is your favorite dog? » The dog I prefer is always the one that I am training and trying to communicate with. The more obedient the dog, of course, the more pleased I am.. For the past year, Samantha has been starring in a beautiful TV commercial for Fido and has also been photographed for Avon. Floozie and handsome Jackson both star also in Fido advertisements. To conclude my little presentation, I hold a diploma from the CECA, the only school of canine psychology in Québec. This has given me the opportunity to share some of my knowledge with clients who adopt our puppies. I do house calls to provide housebreaking tips and basic training in order to correct certain problems such as a dog pulling on its leash, jumping on people, nibbling hands or objects, etc. As of September, I will also be giving group lessons. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my friend Nathalie Piché who has enabled me to accomplish all this! |
